Refinery Specs Innova-Mass® Model 240 on Air Compressors

A refinery recently installed two new air compressors in their plant and specified two mass flow meters to measure utility air use and dry instrument air mass flow rate as well as total plant output. Their principal objective was to monitor increased air usage or temperature changes that might indicate a leak -- a costly proposition.

The plant engineers select Sierra's Innova-Mass® flow meter because this device "does it all". They do not need to buy and install ancillary devices such as temperature transmitters or pressure gauges.  This has saved them approximately $3000 in purchase and installation cost per unit. They can also transmit and record a temperature and pressure history on each line.

The principal engineer reports that the Innova-Mass® flow meter contributes to the plant's overall output quality since the instrument's features enable the plant technicians to easily accomplish total plant balancing of utilities. He went on to say that the meters are "really, really easy" to program and configure. He especially values the "nice big, fat buttons, which are so easy to see and use."

 In one case he remembers simply handing the meters to a new technician who had no prior training with Sierra's products. With only the aid of the operator's manual, the technician installs and commissions the meters with less than six hours of downtime and without any problems or difficulties. Our customer reports that both meters have done exactly what we promised they would do!
