Making Ultrasonic Liquid Flow Meter Installation Easier

Jun 26, 2017

Ultrasonic transit-time flow meter technology is becoming one of the most adopted technologies for accurate liquid and energy/BTU measurement. Although a major benefit of the technology is that it is non-invasive and can be clamped to the outside of the pipe, an inherent challenge with ultrasonic clamp on liquid flow meters is finding the best location to measure the liquid. This means determining the proper sensor configuration  (V, Z, W) to get a strong signal for measurement.

Software apps have made it much easier for end users to install the clamp on transducers and ensure a strong signal. With this software, successful installation of ultrasonic flow meters becomes fast and easy.

In this video, watch how Sierra’s InnovaSonic 207i ultrasonic liquid flow meter with software apps becomes the ideal plug and play liquid flow meter. Apps like Quick Start, MeterFit, EnergyPro, and ValidCal have changed the way ultrasonic flow meters are installed.

Scott Rouse, product line director at Sierra, gives an overview of the 207i Smart Interface Portal (SIP) features and demonstrates how to use the Quick Start app’s 12 easy set-up steps to quickly get your InnovaSonic 207i up and running.

For a more in-depth look at the 207i’s comprehensive software package of apps for ease of use, field upgrades, and calibration validation, watch this video. The video shows you how to use apps like MeterFit™ to help you optimize signal strength to assure the best performance. While apps like EnergyPro™ allow you to fully configure your thermal energy / BTU flow energy measurement system, including data logging and totalization of all energy functions. Apps like ValidCal™ Diagnostics make field calibration validation easy. Engineers and operators can use apps for easy setup, field upgrades, and validation of hardware and firmware.
