Sierra Instruments’ InnovaMass® 240i/241i Steam & Water Vortex Flow Meter now with BACnet Communications

Easy Integration with BACnet Digital Protocol for Building Automation & Control

Monterey, California- Sierra Instruments announces its industry proven InnovaMass® 240i/241i volumetric and multivariable mass vortex flow meter is now available with BACnet digital communication protocol for easy building automation and control in flow energy management applications. As part of Sierra’s Big-3™ suite of Flow Energy Management products for all gas, liquid, and steam flow applications, the InnovaMass® with BACnet now provides easy integration with other building automation instrumentation and access to all relevant data available in their meter to drastically cut energy costs and improve energy efficiency.

As part of Sierra’s Big-3™ one complete flow energy solution, the InnovaMass 240i/241i vortex flow meter has been specifically designed for precise flow energy management in steam, compressed air, natural gas, and water applications. The 240i/241i also has a full suite of digital communications solutions that include HART, Profibus DP, Modbus RTU, Foundation Fieldbus, and now BACnet that allows flow meter integration into automation and control systems, providing engineers and systems integrators with a turnkey solution.  It is capable of measuring five process variables with one instrument, features Sierra’s revolutionary Raptor II operating system, and provides end-users with flow measurement precision that promises to reduce energy costs and increase productivity.

BACnet is a communications protocol for Building Automation and Control (BAC) networks that is governed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), SSPC 135, ANSI, and ISO 16484-5 standard protocol and is used for communications among field devices to the control system.

Additionally, InnovaMass measures both volumetric and mass flow, provides mass flow accuracy of +/- 1.0% of reading over a 30:1 range (liquids) and +/- 1.5% of reading over a 30:1 range  (gas & steam); volumetric flow accuracy of  +/- 0.7% of reading over a 30:1 range  (liquids), +/- 1.0% of reading over a 30:1 range (gas & steam); liquid flow ranges (30:1 turndown)  up to 30 ft/s (9.1 m/s) velocity maximum; gas and steam flow ranges up to 300 ft/s (91.5 m/s) velocity maximum; repeatability mass flow rate: +/- 0.2% of reading; repeatability volumetric flow rate of +/- 0.1 % of reading, temperature: +/- 0.2°F (+/- 0.1 °C); Dial-A-Fluid™, (change fluid in the field), Dial-A-Pipe™ (change pipe size in the field), and FloPro™ (optimal flow profile calculation for 241i insertion model). It is also low-cost alternative Coriolis meters for large pipes and ducts.
